Meet Maranda, a mom to six children. I knew Maranda had a fire in her to make changes in her life from our first conversations online when she began to consider joining my February 2015 Challenge Group. She had every reason in the world not to join us – being so busy with six little ones, financial challenges, health challenges – but she pulled the trigger and decided to do something for herself. Ever since that first decision to give herself a little “me time” and to prioritize her own health, I have been SO proud of this amazing woman. She inspires others and is making huge progress on her personal journey. If you feel like you have excuses standing in your way of making changes in your life, you have to read Maranda’s story written below in her own words.
I had lost 85lbs on my own yet the scale was at a stand still and I felt weak. I needed a change. I knew I needed to focus on eating right and working out too.
Excuses. Like I mentioned I felt weak not to mention not having enough energy to get through my day caring for a home, 6 kids, and my husband. My needs never came first. I put everything off for me – even my health – until one day my doctor told me I had Diabetes and thyroid issues that make you gain weight. That hit me hard. Then I found out I was pregnant. It was a rough one and I vowed after I had my baby, no more excuses, no more back burner momma.
I do 21 Day Fix. I have sampled others on BOD (Beachbody On Demand) as extra workouts, yet I do 21 Day Fix as my main workouts and eating plan. I love that I can do it in the comfort of my own home. I don’t care for the gym, and it would take time away from my family to go. I love that I can do it anytime I want, and lately I have been taking advantage of my youngest’s nap time to do it. It’s my me time. I love that it gives me a list of what I can eat and how much and then I can pick what I’m in the mood for.
Shakeology is my life line. It helps me tackle my day with so much energy, with 6 kids and a household to run, and that’s huge to me. It’s the one meal I know I am getting 100% right because it’s packed with so much nutrition. I would be lost without it. I love it! It helps me be in a better mood even. You just have to try it to believe what a difference it can make.
The challenge groups make a difference for me because of all the support I get and in return give to others who are in there doing it each day right along with me. It gives me motivation to just push play even on days like today for example where I just didn’t want to do it yet I didn’t want to be the one not doing it. I had already seen some people post their sweaty pics, and I knew I just needed to do it because I’d feel great afterwards and feel better about myself too. It just helps me stay accountable.
Yes, I’ve gained a lot of muscle and still am. I’ve lost 15lbs and a ton of inches! Over 30inches alone before my first group have even ended! I went down a dress size before my first challenge group was even over also!
Non-scale victories: A ton of energy. My mood is better. My confidence is up. My life is just better! I’m a better mom and wife. I sleep better – I had insomnia horribly before this and now not one issue with it. My diabetic numbers are much better. My husband checks me out more. I went down dress sizes and my clothes are baggy again. I get a ton of compliments and everyone is asking me what I’ve been doing.
The other challenge group participants: They help me achieve my goals and stick with it! I have quite a bit to still lose and this is what keeps me from giving up! It’s my life line!
I became a Coach at first because my Coach told me I was already doing it in the group and on my own FB page, inspiring others. I knew I had more I needed to lose and one round wasn’t going to be enough to get me to my goal. I also knew I wanted to continue on with Shakeology and more challenge groups because I needed that extra support. So I thought if nothing else, do it for the coach discount. Never did I think I could go anywhere with this, and now here I am – an Emerald Coach already. Going through training and striving to move up. I now get checks. I got another in the mail today just when my family needed it the most. I feel like I’m not just that stay at home mom that doesn’t get to help out financially. I am now contributing that way also and it feels amazing! My goal is to become a Diamond Coach then the sky’s the limit. I just keep hearing it’s big, it’s big!
