For all of my New England mamas out there: I wanted to share how fun The Discovery Museums in Acton, MA can be for toddlers! With our library pass, it was only $5.25 per person, and children under 1 are free. You can go in and out throughout the day and have lunch or dinner on their picnic tables, if you would like. Although we only explored one of the museums, there is also another building with fun, hands on exhibits for middle school aged children. There are several ways to save on admission besides using the library pass, and this summer there are also free Friday night’s starting at 4:30 pm if you would like to incorporate some stargazing into your family’s museum experience.

Baby playing with wooden train

Baby loved the room dedicated to trains. Mama loved that every room in the museum is filled with old school, wooden toys. This place is not high tech, and that is what makes it so refreshing. Imagination is king here!

Baby plays at water table.

The water room offers fun water tables, water pumps, and a giant bubble maker.

Baby stands in jungle room.

Each room offers a different theme. Baby, of course, loved the jungle animal room best!

Baby climbs into a window.

There are so many places to climb with heights and steps that are perfect for a toddler.

Baby plays with legos.

There are also fun tactile experiences around every turn.

Baby crawls.

Mama wished she was small enough to crawl through some of the secret crawl spaces that are just the right size for a toddler!

Baby steers a boat.

Baby enjoyed being the captain of an entire room shaped as a boat.

Baby sits in a sand box.

The huge outdoor sand box was a big hit!

Museums are great with kids! We are lucky enough that my best friend has a pass that can get me and the kids in, too. It’s fun to take our clan of 5 kids and let them loose. They especially love the little stores and mechanic shop at our museum center.

Adorable. I used to love museums like this when I was a kid – still do, if I’m being *completely* honest. ;)
